In 2008, a group of players from the Challenge Division of the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) in Raleigh, North Carolina was offered the chance of a lifetime. After 10 months of training as soccer players and club representatives, 6 teams spent more than a week experiencing a different culture, discovering a newfound passion for the sport they play, and competing in a tournament where many of the teams did not even speak their own language. This eye opening experiencing changed the lives of those players forever. This, however, is not why Club Ambassadors was created.

The players got everything they expected and more from their experience, but the impact the program had on the Challenge Division as a whole was greater than anyone could have imagined. The players’ newfound passion and respect for the beautiful game was contagious. The impact of this program extended much farther than the players who participated, reaching every facet of the league from coaches to parents, players to referees, club administrators to people in the community.
